The single easiest thing to do before a trip is make sure the yard is fully cleaned before your dog leaves for boarding, or before you leave for vacation with a pet sitter checking in. A yard that's already clean when the trip starts is a yard that's easy to keep track of — any new waste from a pet sitter's visits or a dog walker is obvious and easy to manage, instead of blending into an existing backlog.
If You're Using a Pet Sitter or Dog Walker
Ask whether waste pickup is part of their visit, or whether it's assumed the yard will be handled separately. It's a common gap — pet sitters focus on feeding, walks, and check-ins, and yard waste often isn't explicitly covered unless you ask.
